Lessons for Advanced Students

Maria offers online lessons for advanced flutists up to college level ability. Advanced flute students study a wide variety of repertoire. Students moving up from previous etude books usually begin with repertoire from Melodious and Progressive Studies for FluteRubank Advanced Method for Flute, Taffanel-Gaubert’s 17 Grand Daily Exercises, Berbiguier Etudes, Andersen Etudes, Handel Sonatas, Bach Sonatas, Flute Music by French Composers, or orchestral flute and piccolo excerpts.

562661_3592322050544_1866932152_nMaria’s advanced students have been enrolled in programs at LaGuardia High School of the Arts, Kaufman Center’s Lucy Moses SchoolFrank Sinatra High School of the ArtsStuyvesant High School, and have performed with a long list of youth ensembles. Many of her former students have gone on to pursue college degress in Music and Arts Administration.

In addition, her students often choose to participate in area master classes, summer camps, studio recitals, and have scored “Excellent” and “Outstanding” ratings on the NYSSMA Flute Test – Levels I-VI.

It is required that intermediate and advanced students take at least a 45 minute lesson, with 60 minutes being preferred. In addition, it is also recommend that advanced students purchase a step-up flute with open holes, a B-foot, and a solid silver head joint sometime between 8th and 10th grade.
